Late post about the Oban Race (28 August). I was SO STRESSED before I went to that race, and a weekend with lovely people, focused on paddling, was just what I needed. It went surprisingly well. Got a wash with the triple (Adam, Alan and Gus), and then a wash and battle with Les and Duncan. Tried to beat Duncan to the finish (second photo, if I race, I race ) but he got there at 1:49:09, while it took me 1:49:10. This got me 14th place overall and second in the women's ranking behind Lizelle (1:40:01 : O) but I got an age group 1st.
Well done everyone who raced and a huge thank you to the organisers, and to Lizelle and Alan.
